Two people dead after head-on crash in Iberia

MILLER COUNTY – Two people are dead after a head on crash in Iberia.

Troopers say it happened Friday afternoon on Route 42 east of Hollar Road when Wayne Ponder went off the side of the road with his Jeep and overcorrected, causing him to cross the center line. He then hit the car of Brian and Janice Nixdorf head-on.

Ponder was transported to St. Mary's hospital, where he later died. Brian Nixdorf was pronounced dead on the scene.

His passenger, Janice Nixdorf, was flown to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.
