KRCG's morning anchor Dick Preston is resting at home this week after suffering a mild heart attack. He revealed the news Tuesday on the KRCG Mid-Missouri Facebook page.
Preston says he's feeling good after having a stent placed in a blocked artery.
In his own words on his Facebook page, Preston says, "So, I was out on Wednesday night and began feeling this pain in my chest....not like an elephant sitting on it...more like a small horse, a pain similar to one I'd had the day before, but this one wouldn't go away. Anyway, I went to the emergency room that night and it turns out I was having a heart attack. I've had a stent implanted and am now home resting up. That's why I haven't been on the air for a while and will not be for several more days. I'm fortunate there wasn't too much damage. Going to the hospital early and not being a smoker helped. I'll be starting cardiac rehab tomorrow (Wednesday), so I'll keep you posted."
In typical Dick Preston fashion, he used his post on the KRCG Facebook page to joke about his absence from the morning newscasts.
"If you're used to watching me and haven't seen me for a while, I haven't retired...or gone to Tahiti, or to jail. I suffered a mild heart attack a few days ago, had a stent put in, and am now resting and recuperating at home. I feel pretty good and received very fine treatment. My co-workers have been careful to guard my privacy, but now you know "the rest of the story". (Didn't somebody else already say that?) Anyway, I'll be back pretty soon. I better...they're doing too well without me."
If you would like to send a note to Dick during his time off for recovery you can post your comments below or on the KRCG Mid-Missouri Facebook page. Dick sends his thanks to those of you who already have done so.
