COLE COUNTY -- Cole County Deputies took two residents into custody Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded to a call for suspicious activity in the 3100 block of Bald Hill Rd just before 1:30 a.m.

During their investigation deputies found multiple stolen items including car wheels, tires and car stereo equipment.  All of the items were found in a shed of an elderly disabled man who was unaware of the items being in his shed.

Law enforcement also towed three vehicles from the scene that were believed to have been used to transport the stolen items.

Deputies took a 31-year-old female and an 18-year-old male into custody, who were later turned over to the Jefferson City Police Department.

Authorities have identified two other people they think are involved but have yet to locate them.

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department said they believe all of the stolen goods were taken from stereo shops inside the Jefferson City limits.

During the investigation employees at Car Phonics, on Jefferson St., realized they had been burglarized.

Several items are believed to have been taken from that business.
