The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a red flag warning for wind and low relative humidity.

That means conditions are ripe for explosive fire growth potential.

The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday morning until 8 p.m.

The Boone County Fire Protection District is urging residents not to do any burning when wind speeds exceed 5-10 mph.

Most cover fires occur in early spring or late April when grass is dormant and there's a lack of moisture.
