The Hall of Famous Missourians may include a controversial radio commentator.
House Speaker Steven Tilley says he chose conservative Rush Limbaugh three months ago, but now he has to defend the choice
Limbaugh is under fire from critics and his own advertisers for insulting a female law student involved in the national debate about insurance for contraception. Limbaugh later apologized to Sandra Fluke for calling her a slut.
Tilley says the hall, which includes the busts of 39 people both living and dead, was formed to honor famous Missourians - not "universally loved Missourians."
Inductees are chosen by the speaker of the Missouri House. Republican Tilley and Limbaugh are both from the state's southeastern corner -- Tilley from Perryville and Limbaugh from Cape Girardeau.
