COLUMBIA, MO. -- A Hickman High School senior had her lunch interrupted on Monday by a life changing surprise.

Columbia College Officials used a bullhorn to tell Columbia’s Lauren Guillory that she won one of 10 scholarships worth $96,816.

The 10 annual awards go to the top ten applicants of more than 100 students.

The scholarships pay for full tuition and room and board.

Guillory is the only Columbia student to win the award this year.

Guillory said, “It means everything to me.  I can really focus on my education and not have to worry about money as much.  I really excited.  I’m so excited to go to Columbia College.”

Winners of the top ten Columbia College scholarships must have at least a 3.5 grade point average, write an essay and be interviewed by judges.
