COLUMBIA -- Columbia Police are investigating a report of shots fired early Friday morning.

It happened near the intersection of Nifong and Hermitage.

Investigators say the shots were fired from a dark vehicle with tinted windows from the open sunroof as the vehicle drove past the intersection.

It’s unknown if the shooter was shooting in the air or if there was an intended target. Officers found multiple shell casings from the westbound lane of Nifong near Hermitage. No injuries have been reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
