BOONVILLE, MO. -- A long time police detective is now Boonville’s new police chief.

Lieutenant Bobby Welliver is taking over for Jim Gholson, who is retiring after 42 years of service.

Boonville city council members approved Welliver’s appointment as the next police chief on Wednesday morning.

In a statement sent to KRCG, Boonville Mayor Pro Tem Mark Livingston said, “Welliver has served the community in various positions in the department for over 20 years and we look forward to his leadership as our next chief.”
