State officials are working to find out how someone was able to deface the Missouri state website with graphic war images.

The Office of Administration said the images were placed in the website Thursday morning. They said that even though the images were placed there, no data was accessed and the network remained secure.

The images were removed and the website was taken offline for 30 minutes while additional precautions were put in place.

(The Associated Press contributed to this report. The screen capture of the website was edited to blur out the graphic image from recognition.)
