Tipton man injured in Jefferson City accident

Jefferson City Police investigated a car accident at the Missouri Blvd and Hwy 179 interchange on Wednesday.

According to police, Charles W. Ward, 65, of Tipton, was driving a 2008 Ford Taurus eastbound on Missouri Blvd when the vehicle ran off the road and struck a street light pole.

The impact of the accident broke the pole and the vehicle went down an embankment. Initial reports showed the light pole blocking traffic from getting onto Hwy 179. The driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.
