BOONE COUNTY, MO. -- Investigators with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and Columbia Police are connecting 2 separate incidents of gunfire.

Someone shot a gun near the intersection of Columbia’s Elm Grove Drive and Brown Station Road about 9 p.m. on Monday.

Investigators found 2 shell casings at the scene.

The second incident happened about an hour later on Santa Barbara Drive just east of Columbia near the El Chaparral Subdivision.

Authorities found 8 shell casings at that location.

Investigators said it appears the 2 incidents are related because of undisclosed evidence.

Boone County Sheriff’s Detective Tom O’Sullivan said, “There are a couple of things that I can’t talk about that leads us to believe that the Boone County incident is related to an earlier incident that occurred on Brown Station Road in Northeast Columbia.”

No one was hurt at both of the shooting locations.

If you have any information about these crimes, police urge you to call Columbia CrimeStoppers at 573-875-TIPS.
