Joplin Police have a suspect in custody wanted for several New Year's Day arsons in Miller County.

The Eldon Police Department and Missouri Fire Marshall's office investigated several New Year's Day fires on 8th Street in Eldon. Samuel N. Dykens, 34, of Joplin was named a suspect in January.

He was charged with four counts of arson and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

On New Year's Day several fires were started on 8th street in Eldon. There have also been reports of several break-ins. Police previously announced they had a suspect in mind, but did not have that person in custody. Neighbors said they knew who had committed the arsons and told police.
