Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill said she is fighting to keep rural post offices open.
McCaskill said closing postal facilities won't solve the U.S. Postal Service's money troubles.
She wants them to continue delivering mail, six days a week.
"We may need to change hours of operation. We may need to change locations or put post office windows in other businesses. But I think it's imperative that we hold onto these post offices for the small communities around the state," MO Senator Claire McCaskill said.
The Postal Service is considering shutting down about 3,700 post offices.
The agency agreed to delay the closures until May 15th, giving conrgess time to develop a plan to save them.
The Postal Service, which isn't funded at all by tax money, lost $5 billion last year.
