On Monday, the Bland Postmaster was told their offices were closing. On Tuesday, they were spared from closure with a new lease agreement.

Postmaster Debbie Scheel told KRCG yesterday that she was in shock over the closure. Residents were upset when told they had less than one day's notice to get their mail from P.O. Boxes.

Officials with the U.S. Postal Service said Tuesday a new lease agreement was signed for the office's current building. Some equipment was moved out of the building on Tuesday, but it will all be returned and business is back to normal.

A spokesperson for USPS said the office was not going to close, but was an emergency suspension due to the office's expiring lease.
