Jefferson City Police are investigating a heroin overdose. Police said they were called at 3 a.m. on Saturday to the 400 block of Hickory Street.

Police arriving at the scene found an unresponsive 49-year-old Jefferson City man and two others, one of whom was giving aid to the man. Cole County EMS transported the man to an area hospital and he was stabilized and treated for the overdose.

Police said an initial investigation led to information that the victim may have been drunk. Officers were able to also determine the man had taken heroin and went unconscious afterward.
