Edward C. Jones, of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
A Columbia man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a reports of shots fired near Garth and Fourth Avenue Monday night.
Edward C. Jones turned himself into police around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of first degree assault and armed criminal action.
Columbia Police said they were called to the area around 7:45 p.m. Monday where they found that an argument began in the driveway of 805 N. Garth over a parking dispute. Police said a female left her vehicle and walked away from the scene. Police said Jones followed the woman from the area and pulled a gun. Jones is suspected of firing one shot at the woman.
Police said then Jones returned to his residence and fired two more shots in the air from his driveway. He left the area in his car with an unknown female passenger. Authorities found Jones' car in a parking lot just south of 2001 Newton Drive. There, they also found the gun they believe was used in the shooting.
No one was injured in the shots fired.
Jones is in the Boone County Jail with a bond to be set.
