More than $2,000 was raised at the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast earlier this month.

The freewill offering from the January 5th breakfast raised $2,315. To mark MLK Day of Service, Governor Nixon presented the check to Jefferson City Samaritan Center’s Founder and Executive Director Marylyn DeFeo.

The offering, which begun three years ago, has raised more than $6,000 total for The Samaritan Center.

“On the day we remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., millions of Americans also are helping their communities as part of the National Day of Service,” Governor Nixon said.

“The Samaritan Center is just one of countless organizations working everyday here in our state to help our neighbors, and I encourage Missourians to support these efforts through volunteering and through their donations.”
