OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (AP) -- Ameren Missouri has unveiled a revised shoreline management plan at Lake of the Ozarks that the utility says should spare most of the 1,600 homes previously threatened for removal to comply with federal law.

The utility released its proposed plan in mid-December and held a public session Tuesday night to discuss its new maps. The proposal calls for a lake-wide boundary at 662 feet above sea level plus additional adjustments "as needed" to remove all residential dwellings from utility-owned property.

The plan still requires approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The federal agency initially said that structures might have to be removed if they encroach on Ameren's land. It then said homes built on land for which owners have deeds or leases can remain.
