The American Red Cross in Jefferson City announced Wednesday that Dave Griffith would be their new executive director.

"I will do my best to serve you and help give you the resources to provide even more services than we do currently,” Red Cross's New Executive Director Dave Griffith said.

Griffith has more than 28-years of management experience in television marketing and communications.

He also is the Jefferson City 5th Ward Councilman.

He tells KRCG he is very honored to be the new executive director for the Red Cross Capital Area Chapter.

"I feel like I’m going to be able to effect a lot more lives with this job than what I have with other jobs I’ve had previous to this,” Griffith said.

Griffith told us that he is going to step down from the Jefferson City Council because the Red Cross doesn't allow elective officials to work for their organization.
