Update: Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.:

Jefferson City police said the wreck north of Jefferson City was not a fatal crash. There was only one fatality on mid-Missouri roads Tuesday morning and that involved the GMC pickup truck and Toyota Camry on Highway 63 in Callaway County.

Original Story:

Mid-Missouri law enforcement officials have confirmed two people died in early morning crashes. Slick roads contributed to dozens of wrecks Tuesday morning and were the cause of at least one of the fatal crashes.

According to the Highway Patrol report, at 7:10 a.m. Sharon Keeran, 57, lost control of her GMC pickup truck on the Turkey Creek Bridge on Highway 63 in Callaway County. The California, Missouri woman’s truck went off the left side of the road, through the median cables and into the path of a Toyota Camry. John Drew, 55, who was driving the Camry, hit Keeran head on.

Drew, who is from Columbia, was transported to University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at 9 a.m.

Keeran is in critical condition at University Hospital. Troopers say she was not wearing a seatbelt when the collision occurred.

Also, north of Jefferson City police officers helped the highway patrol with another fatal crash.

Details are limited at this time, but the Jefferson City PD spokesperson said a woman was ejected from her vehicle after a rollover crash. Emergency crews took her to the hospital where she later died.
