Joel Hartenbower pleaded guilty to posessing child pornography.
COLUMBIA, MO -- A Columbia man has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. Joel Hartenbower, 39, entered the plea Monday in a Boone County courtroom.
The investigation into Hartenbower began on January 13, 2011 when the Columbia Police Department received a tip about him having child porn on his computer. About two months later, officers with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force arrested Hartenbower after examining two computers they seized in a search.
On one of the computers they found what they’re calling “a very large number of pictures and videos of children, including children believed to be as young as two to four years of age, engaged in sexual conduct.”
Hartenbower is scheduled to be sentenced on February 21 at 3 p.m.
