JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- Update: Monday, Dec. 19 at 6:30 p.m.:

Court documents show Cole County deputies believe Rachael Barnard not only backed into a vehicle in front of her house, she ditched the SUV after driving off.

Deputies initially responded to the 1600 block of Tanner Bridge Road, where the collision occurred. Officers found Barnard’s vehicle a couple blocks away abandoned in a parking lot in the 300 block of Flora Drive.

Deputies found Barnard in her house with her keys. They say she had “stick tights” on her pants, indicating she walked through a wooded area between Flora and her house.

When asked about the wreck, Barnard would only say she was not injured and had her seat belt on.

One deputy on the scene said he could see and smell signs that Barnard had been drinking. She refused to perform a field sobriety test, but agreed to do a breathalyzer. The sample showed her blood alcohol content was 0.20%, which is about two and a half times higher than the legal limit of 0.08%.

Barnard is scheduled to make her first court appearance on January 20.

Update: Friday, Dec. 16 at 6:00 p.m.:

Cpt. Doug Shoemaker, the spokesperson for the Jefferson City Police Department, said Barnard "is no longer employed with our agency".

Barnard will make her first court appearance on January 20 for an arraignment.
