Two Jefferson City middle school students are facing discipline after one sold the other marijuana.

JCPS officials said the school was trying to figure out how to discipline the students they believe were involved in the sale. They said a student reported seeing a sixth grader sell and eighth grader marijuana at Lewis and Clark Middle School this week.

The students involved were turned over to local law enforcement. Disciplinary action is pending. The pair are facing a short term suspension with the possibility to expand it longer term.

School officials said drugs are always a problem in schools, but they aren't sure if they are more of a problem now. They said this year, district officials have found themselves dealing with more prescription drugs on campus.
