Original Story:
Columbia Police arrested a woman Tuesday afternoon they believe is responsible for a recent string of robberies.
Police said around 4:22 p.m. Tuesday an officer stopped a van in the area of Brown School Road and Alcott Drive. Detectives in the area requested the traffic stop. The driver of the van was Jessica M. Harris, 23, of Columbia.
Police were already looking for Harris on an unrelated receiving stolen property issue so they took her in for questioning.
Police said while they were questioning Harris, she confessed to committing multiple recent robberies. According to police, Harris was responsible for 12 recent robberies from Sept. 22 to Dec. 8.
Police said they spent hours reviewing surveillance videos and interviewing witnesses. The surveillance videos led to detectives recognizing the van Harris was driving.
