A special panel of judges has revised its new boundaries for the Missouri Senate after concerns were raised about a proposed map the panel released last week.

Critics say redrawn districts in the earlier map improperly split up certain counties.

The Missouri Constitution says district lines shall not cross a county except when necessary to add people to a nearby district.

In a statement Friday, the Appellate Apportionment Commission said constitutional considerations were behind its move to redraw the map.

Maps for the state's House and Senate districts are being redrawn to account for the state's population shifts in the 2010 census.
