ST. LOUIS (AP) -- As a veteran police officer in St. Louis, 55-year-old Mark O'Brien has seen his share of crime. But he's seen more than most within his own family.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that three of O'Brien's relatives have been killed over nearly six decades, and all three killings remain unsolved. His grandmother was shot to death in 1952. His younger brother was shot to death in 2008. And he now works in the same district where his older brother was fatally stabbed 21 years ago.

O'Brien doubts the death of his grandmother will ever be solved because too much time has passed. He remains more hopeful that those who killed his brothers will be brought to justice.
