(AP) -- A second attempt at auctioning off a former federal building in Cape Girardeau hasn't resulted in a single bid one month after the auction began.
The General Services Administration is trying to sell the downtown building after a first auction drew three bidders -- all of whom eventually backed out.
The GSA says the holiday season isn't typically a time for a flurry of bids for government-owned property the agency wants off its hands.
The Southeast Missourian reports the GSA intends to announce a close date for the auction within the next three to six weeks. A GSA spokeswoman says bidding usually picks up after a close date is announced.
The government agency is asking $750,000 for the nearly 48,000-square-foot building that was built in 1967.
