Clerk injured in hotel armed robbery

A hotel clerk was injured during an overnight armed robbery.

Columbia Police said they were called at 11:47 p.m. Sunday to the Wingate Inn on Wingate Court in reference to an armed robbery.

Police reported that two unidentified masked men entered the Inn armed with handguns and demanded cash from the clerk. One of the men struck the clerk's left eye with a handgun during the robbery. The clerk had bruising and a laceration from the attack.

Police are looking for a white male in his 20s who is six feet tall. The white male is described as being between 180 and 220 pounds and was last seen wearing a mask and dark clothing.

Police are also looking for a second male in his 20s who weighs 150 to 180 pounds who was also last seen wearing a mask and dark clothing.

The Columbia Police K-9 assisted in the search for the suspect. The case has been turned over to the major crimes unit. No arrests have been made.
