The case involving a Cole County daycare provider accused of shaking a baby is back in court Wednesday.

Shelley Richter is charged with child abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

In September 2010, a grand jury alleged the Taos woman hit and shook 7-month-old Lane Schaeffer.

Richter said she dropped Lane on a concrete floor after tripping over another child at her home daycare. However, doctors testified the baby's injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

There's a counsel status hearing Wednesday in Cole County Court.

This past summer, Richter’s jury trial was delayed and scheduled for January 2012.
