Thanksgiving is less than a week away and it's one of the most highly traveled holidays in the country with most people using cars as their transportation.
But there's another option out there to get you from point a to point b.
Officials with Amtrak said they want to make sure families and friends get connected for Thanksgiving this year.
So they've added a third coach to one of the Missouri River Runner schedules.
From next Wednesday through Sunday the 27th, Train 316 will have extra room for passengers.
This is the train that runs in the evenings from Kansas City to Saint Louis.
If you're going to take advantage of the train ride Amtrak has some tips to make sure your experience is the best it can be.
First, avoid the rush.
The busiest Amtrak travel days are the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after.
Second, get to the station early.
Third, make sure you have your photo ID.
The last tip, be safe.
Be aware of your surroundings, stand back from the edge of the platform, and watch your step when boarding and leaving the train or when walking between cars while the train is in motion.
Amtrak said the additional coach will ensure there will be plenty of seating for holiday travelers since ridership last November was up 17% from the year before.
