Mid-Missouri's only ice skating club is looking for communty support to continue its programs.
In our Facebook story of the day, the Jefferson City Figure Skating Club offers free lessons to dozens of kids each year. Club President Kristi Heritage says this year 40 kids got 5 free lessons. They also offer reduced cost lessons to children with special needs. They have 10 kids on that program. In all, the club has just over 100 members.
They hope to win a $2,500 dollar grant from a national insurance company's online contest.
Liberty Mutual is putting the focus on responsible coaches and sports parents.
You have to take an online quiz to vote for the skating club.
The contest ends at the end of the month.
Other Jefferson City groups competing for the grants include the JC Parks and Recreation Department, Youth Hockey Club and the Velocity Track Club.
Last spring the Central Missouri Volleyball Club won a grant from Liberty Mutual.
