A Jefferson City band teacher arrested for sexual contact with a student made his first court appearance Wednesday.

Chris Knehans quickly bonded out of jail after his arrest in early October.

He showed up wearing a suit today for the quick hearing that lasted only about two minutes.

Take a look at Knehans and his lawyer walking in to the courtroom.

The judge said he would give him 90 days to decide if he wants to plea or go to trial. Knehans was indicted for having sexual contact with a female student at Jefferson City High School.

The indictment said he had sexual contact with the female student by touching her breaSts and genitals back in september.

Knehans is on administrative leave from his position as band director at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

The school district has said if Knehans is found guilty he could have his teaching certificate revoked and be terminated. He's due back in court on February 22nd.
