KANSAS CITY, MO (AP) -- Kansas City police are investigating six weekend deaths, and one of the victims was a friend of the city's police chief.

Police said three people were found dead in a home late Friday, two people were found dead at another address Saturday, and a sixth body was found in home where a fire appeared to have been set.

Police said the incidents don't appear related, but all are under investigation.

Chief Darryl Forté told The Kansas City Star that one of the victims was "like a brother" to him. He said they had talked Friday, and that Forté was planning to drop off a couch at his friend's house this weekend.

Police released the identities of five of the victims, but did not say which was Forte's friend.
