Columbia/Boone County Public Safety Joint Communications was back to normal Monday morning after a small fire Sunday night.

Around 9:15 p.m., the building that houses the joint communications, including the 9-1-1 Operations Center, was evacuated due to smoke and a small fire.

Six staff members were in the center at the time. No one was injured.

Some emergency telecommunications were relocated, to maintain limited phone capabilities. Within an hour, operations were restored and fully functioning.

Columbia firefighters say the fire seemed to be electrical in nature.
