BOONE COUNTY -- A convicted felon wanted in several mid-Missouri counties was arrested Saturday night.
A Boone County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a truck for multiple traffic violations near Highway 40 and Rocheport Gravel Road just after 10:15 p.m.
The truck, driven by Jay Hager, 20, failed to yield and causing a chase which continued along Rocheport Gravel Road before Hager’s car ran off the road near Tucker Collins Road and Drake Lane.
Hager ran from the truck into a large open field.
During the investigation, deputies determined the car Hager was driving had been reported as stolen to the Cole County Sheriff’s Department earlier in the evening.
Investigators found a hand-held GPS device that was also reported as stolen to the Cole County Sheriff’s Department in the truck along with a shotgun that had been reported as stolen to the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department.
Hager was arrested for possession of firearm unlawful for certain persons, tampering, possession of burglar’s tools, resisting arrest, Assault of a law enforcement officer, receiving stolen property, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and failure to yield to an emergency motor vehicle.
As a convicted felon, Hager by Missouri state law is not allowed to possess a firearm. Hager also had seven active warrants issued for his arrest for various offenses in Audrain and Callaway counties.
Hager is currently on Missouri probation or parole for second degree Burglary.
Hager is currently in the Boone County Jail with a total bond set at $297,000 for his outstanding warrants, with $102,000 being a cash only bond and $20,145 total bond for the current charges from Boone County.
The investigation is active since investigators are trying to determine if Hager is involved with several vehicle thefts, burglaries and thefts in at least six mid-Missouri counties.
