COLUMBIA, MO. -- Columbia Public School Administrators have narrowed their redistricting plan choices down to three from a list of more than 120 options.
School leaders held the first of 8 forums last night to get feed back on where Columbia Public School students will attend classes in the future.
All of the final 3 proposals focus on transportation concerns, increased enrollments and diversity.
School officials said public feedback is the most important element of the redistricting process.
CPS Spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said, “We’re hoping that we can gather enough feedback and input from our community to come to some sort of consensus with at least two of the scenarios and then present those to our board of education in the January, February time frame for them to ultimately make the final decision on which approach would be the best to implement for Columbia Public Schools.”
Columbia Public School Leaders will continue to get feedback through public forums over the next 2 weeks.
The next redistricting forum takes place Thursday night at Rock Bridge High School.
