The holidays are right around the corner and it's the busiest time of year for local food banks.

Serve, in Fulton says they just wrapped up an unprecedented month in October.

They helped more than 1,000 individual families, which translates into about 3,000 people.

On Wednesday alone they will feed nearly 115 families. Callaway Action Network Director, Julie Roark said food donations are in great demand,
"We're definitely seeing more of a need, more seniors, a lot of senior citizens are needing help and a lot of families simply because the cost of food at the store is so much more than they can afford to make their budget stretch".

Serve is getting ready to kick off their annual adopt a family program. You can call Serve at 573-642-6388.
