Everyone knows to dial 911 for help in an emergency.

But what if the 911 network in your area goes down?

What do you do then?

Captain Bob Cynova at the Jefferson City Police Department told us if their 911 network goes down, they immediately call CenturyLink and they have all 911 phone calls transferred to the main incoming line at the department.

If that line goes down, the calls get transferred to another phone line and so on.

Cynova said the Jefferson City 911 Emergency Network has 27 phone lines, and when all else fails, you can call the non-emergency line.

"If you ever call 911 and you get a busy signal, that's a problem. I would try to call the administrative line at 634-6400 and that should ring in,” Jefferson City Police Department Captain Bob Cynova said.

Cynova said no one should ever worry about not getting help during an emergency because an operator is always there.
