JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Updated: Friday, October 7 at 10:15 a.m.

Jefferson City Police arrest a man connection with a shooting that left a Jefferson City resident with minor injuries.

Police say tips led them to arrest Demetrius Boyce, 25, Thursday evening at a home in the 700 block of East McCarty.

The arrest happened during the execution of a search warrant with the help if the Jefferson City Police Department’s SWAT Team, Mustang Drug Task Force, and the Community Action Team.

Boyce is charged with 1st Degree Assault, 1st Degree Robbery, and Armed Criminal Action. 

Police said he has an extensive criminal history.

Boyce was booked in Cole County Jail.

Jefferson City Police are investigating an overnight shooting on Lafayette Street.

Police said it happened at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. A man knocked on the door of a residence in the 500 block of Lafayette Street and calimed he had been involved in a traffic accident.

Police said the resident offered to let the man use his cell phone and offered to take him back to his vehicle, which the suspect told the resident was only blocks away.

According to the resident, as they were driving to the car, the man showed the resident a gun and said to take him to an ATM. Police said the victim told the suspect he had to go back to his house to get his ATM card. When they arrived, there was a struggle and the victim was able to run into his house to call 911. Police said the suspect did fire one shot and hit the victim in the leg.

Officers arrived at the location and called for an ambulance. The victim had minor injuries, according to police.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, weighing more than 200 pounds. He was described as having facial hair and was last seen wearing a black "puffy" coat with a fur collar, blue jeans and a black and white hat with a pattern.

Police are continuing to investigate this incident and ask that anyone with any information contact the Police Department or Crimestoppers at 659-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted on the CrimeStoppers website.
