COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Former Missouri running back and team leader Derrick Washington is requesting a jury trial to settle a pair of domestic assault charges stemming from an ex-girlfriend's claims that he poked her eyes and choked her during an argument.

The trial date hasn't been set yet. Boone County Circuit Court Presiding Judge Gary Oxenhandler first must assign the case to a new division.

Washington's attorney, Christopher Slusher, said Friday he's requesting the case be assigned to the same judge who handled another recent case against Washington. Earlier this month, Washington was convicted of sexually assaulting a former tutor who said he attacked her in her sleep.

Washington was allowed to keep his scholarship after the accusations surfaced but soon withdrew from school and moved home.
