Off duty Highway Patrol officer helps arrest Columbia robbers

COLUMBIA, MO. -- Another robbery happened at a Columbia convenience store at 9:39 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Justin Myers, 17, allegedly grabbed some cigars and left the Petro Mart Convenience Store at 5612 St. Charles Road without paying.

A clerk tried to stop Myers.

Myers allegedly assaulted the clerk.

An off duty Missouri State Highway Patrol Officer was also allegedly assaulted by Myers when the officer went to intervene.

Officers arrested Myers and Daree Marcel Cortez Martin, 18.

Myers was arrested for second degree robbery, trespassing, assaulting a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance with a $500 bond.

Martin was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property with a $4,500 bond and an outstanding warrant for misdemeanor assault with a $1,000 bond.
