Fatal accident in Maries County

Update: Friday September 2nd at 4:30 p.m.:

John Mazurek was charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter on Friday.

According to Sheriff Chris Heitman, more charges are expected to come at a later date.

Update: Friday September 2nd at 8:40 a.m.:

The Maries County Sheriff's Department said John Mazurek was intoxicated at the time of Thursday's fatal accident on Highway 133.

Wilberta Randolph was killed in that crash. Her mother, Helen Wieberg, was seriously injured.

Sheriff Chris Heitman said Mazurek is in their jail. He could be facing charges of invountary manslaughter or felony assault.

A Meta woman is dead and a Crocker man is in jail after a two car accident in Maries County.

The highway patrol says the crash happened around noon on Thursday on Highway 133, about two miles south of Meta.

The patrol says one vehicle crossed the center line and struck the other head on.

The driver of the second car , 57-year-old Meta resident Wilberta Randolph was killed. A passenger in her car was seriously injured.

Troopers say 24-year-old John Mazurek is in the Maries County jail. He was arrested on suspicion of first degree involuntary manslaughter.
