COLUMBIA, MO. -- Columbia police continue to investigate 3 overnight robberies over the weekend.

The first robbery happened near the corner of Anthony and William Streets near Boone Hospital Center.

A female victim reported that she was walking alone and talking on the phone when a man came from behind, hit her in the shoulder and pulled her purse before knocking her to the ground.

The woman was not seriously injured.

2 men were later robbed at gunpoint near the corner of Florence and Donnelly Avenues.

Investigators say the robber demanded money before the victims took off running.

A third armed robbery happened when 2 men held up the Eagle Stop Convenience Store on North Providence Road.

One of the men implied he had a gun and demanded money.

Investigators said the robbers left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said you should never walk alone and always use the buddy system of walking with at least 2 people to help prevent robberies.

Columbia Police Officer Latisha Stroer said, “Anytime, we suggest the buddy system.  During the day or the evening, it doesn’t matter.  Stay off your cell phones when walking.  Don’t wear headphones.  Be familiar with the area on campus and off campus when walking.”

Columbia police have very few leads in the weekend robberies.

All of the suspects were black males.
