JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- Updated: Saturday, August 6 at 5:15 p.m.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers and community members are still searching for a missing trooper.

Sunday, four officers in mid-Missouri’s Highway Patrol Troop F will join in the effort to search for a missing trooper.

They will aid in the air and water search for water patrolman Fred Guthrie. They're prepared to stay in northwest Missouri for up to a week.

"We're all brothers in blue so to speak and we want to be up there to assist as much as we can," Reinsch said.  "Every one of our officers has volunteered to go up there so it's just important to get up there, and for the family, to find the individual."

Sgt. Paul Reinsch told KRCG Troop F in Jefferson City will send four officers to Holt County on Sunday. They will aid in the air and water search for water patrolman Fred Guthrie. They're prepared to stay in northwest Missouri for up to a week.

The patrol believes Guthrie and his patrol dog, Reed, were swept away by Missouri River flood waters while working in the Big Lake area on Monday.

Patrol officers who worked closely with Trooper Guthrie say the search is a difficult one to grasp.

"It is difficult. We're friends with Fred, working together quite often and then when something like this happens it is difficult,” said Sgt. Sheldon Lyon of the Highway Patrol. “I think the difficulty after he is found and recovered, that will really sink in. Right now they're just concentrating on the task at hand, which is the recovery."

Officers recovered the body of Guthrie’s patrol dog on Tuesday. They believe they will eventually find the missing trooper in the same area.

Trooper Guthrie left behind a wife and three children. A fund has been set up to help the family in the future. You can find out more information on how to donate by clicking here.
