CALLAWAY COUNTY, MO -- A young girl who went missing in Callaway County was found safe and sound.

The sheriff’s department told KRCG the 5-year-old wandered off from her home near Calwood while playing with her dog.

Deputies got the call at 6:26 p.m. Sunday night that she was missing. They cleared the scene about five and a half hours later after finding her.

The sheriff’s department said the young girl had a few scratches when they found her, but she was otherwise happy and hydrated.

Deputies, firemen, and highway patrol officers searched for the girl.

People have contacted KRCG about another missing girl in Callaway County. We spoke with the sheriff’s office about the incident. An official there told us deputies are working a separate case involving a runaway teenager. No foul play is suspected in that case.
