The temperatures are still sky rocketing in mid Missouri and the heat's not only taken a toll on our pets, gardens and lawns but also on our cars.
KRCG's Meghan Lane looked into how to protect your car from the extreme heat in our Facebook story of the day.
Most of the month of July in mid Missouri saw highs in the mid 90's.
AAA wants to make sure your vehicle is safe during these extreme conditions.
Here are some things to look out for.
If your battery has been around for a while make sure it has enough juice to last the season.
Second, your engine is working hard in the summer; make sure your coolant system is doing its job.
The system should be flushed and the coolant replaced periodically.
Third, check your tires.
When the rubber hits the road they should be inflated properly.
Also, make sure you check the tire threads for signs of uneven wear and make sure there's enough depth between the treads.
Four: keep your car hydrated.
Make sure your car quenches its thirst by topping off all of the fluids it needs.
And last-- AAA said make sure your air conditioning is working.
Since having a cool interior is a necessity for safe driving.
AAA also said you should make sure your car is ready for an emergency.
Keep a flashlight inside along with a first-aid kit and water.
