The Missouri Department of Agriculture is celebrating local foods, gardening and local farmers' markets across Missouri.

AgriMissouri is celebrating with the new Growing Markets Contest. The new contest offers $500 grants to farmers' markets receiving the most votes at AgriMissouri's website. Individuals can nominate and vote for their favorite farmers' market in Missouri.

It's all part of the 10,000 Garden Challenge. It's an initiative to register 10,000 Missouri gardens to promote agriculture, health and nutrition and connect consumers to agriculture through gardening. After every 1,000 gardens are registered, a drawing will be held for a $500 gift certificate from Tractor Supply Company.
