Updated at 7:44pm:

The Missouri State Water Patrol has released the name of the New Mexico man who drowned this afternoon at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Forty-five-year-old John Matelski went off a water slide into the lake.  He briefly resurfaced, then disappeared under the water.

Officials recovered his body by dragging the lake.  This is the eighth drowning for Troop F this year.

Original Story:

The Mid-County Dive Team was called in to a scene on Glen Meadow Lane in Osage Beach around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. Osage Beach Police and Water patrol also responded to the scene.

The call was for a man who had been under water for approximately 17 minutes. According to the Osage Beach police, an adult male was possibly going down a slide and did not come out of the water.

This is a developing story and we will update it with more information throughout the evening.
