Body found on rocks below Pulaski County bridge

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department identfied the man found dead on the rocks under the Veteran's Bridge.

Authorities said Arley Dean Campbell, 53, of Waynesville, was the man who died. They said he had been the subject of a missing person's report.

Deputies found the man after pinging a cell phone to get a GPS location as part of the missing persons case. That case began on July 11.

Authorities are not releasing much information, but said the man was standing on the west side of Veteran's Bridge and at some point was struck by a motor vehicle and knocked over the bridge rail.

He then fell between 40 and 50 feet below the bridge. The motor vehicle left the scene of the accident.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department is conducting a death investigation.

Pulaski County Deputies found a person dead on the rocks below the Veterans Bridge on Missouri Route 28 around 12:15 Tuesday afternoon.

The crime scene unit was called to the scene with a Pulaski County Coronoers staff member. On scene investigation is done, but authorities are planning interviews with people who might have more information on the incident. The body was taken to Springfield for an autopsy. Authorities have not completely identified the victim at this time.

According to the sheriff's office, the male victim fell from Veterans Bridge onto the rocks 40 feet below. They have not determined a cause for the fall.
