A Missouri man is charged with cheating at a family-style bass tournament with fish he caught beforehand.
The Sedalia Democrat reported that 72-year-old David Gann of Warsaw entered a not guilty plea this past week in Benton County to a theft charge.
The Missouri Department of Conservation says anglers came across a wire box before the June 4 tournament at Truman Lake. It contained a dead largemouth bass weighing more than 5 pounds and two smaller ones weighing 2 and 3 pounds. The fins of the live bass were clipped for future identification.
Mike Burton of the Conservation Department says agents saw Gann remove fish from the wire box on the day of the tournament. The department says the fish with clipped fins were submitted at the weigh in.
